What is health coaching?
Health coaching is a client centred process that supports you to develop and achieve your goals in health and well being. Your sessions will support you to discover your strengths and learn strategies to make sustainable changes to your lifestyle.
What do health coaches do?
Health coaches work with you and with your goals. The sessions are focused on you and matched to your individual needs. Your coach will listen carefully to you and you will find that you do most of the talking! Coaches may offer ideas and information, but you are always able to choose what you think will work best for you. The health coach will guide you to explore what is getting in the way of your goals, make informed choices and create a unique solution that works for you. Your health coach also acts as your motivator and accountability partner and helps you stay on track to reach your goals.
Health coaches do not diagnose health conditions or prescribe treatment. If this is needed your health coach will suggest that you seek support from a medical professional. The health coach will usually be able to work with you if you have a diagnosis or treatment plan from a qualified medical professional.

They understand the principles of good nutrition and how to support their clients to make small changes that might have a big impact. The health coach is also trained to understand many health conditions and different approaches to becoming more active. The techniques they use are based on positive psychology.
